Taking consideration of safety, the gears used widely in the Railway Industry for different applications are developed under highly technical and scientific guidance. Some significant gears used in the Railway Industry are – the buchli drive, bevel gear, wheel gear, quill motor drive (uses special types of gears), the DC traction motor and monomotor bogie. Apart from these, there are other specific gears and gearboxes used in brakes, wheels, engines, bogies etc.
